Gore’s Windstopper fabric has been the gold standard of cycling-specific thermal material for years, ensuring the foundations of this good-looking Santini jacket are strong and cable. Why? It’s down to Gore’s triple-layer construction, with a membrane bonded between a comfortable polyester fleece on the inside and another layer of polyester on the outside. This layering comes at a light weight, and so says the blurb, is in its element between 5°-18°. Our testing echoes this, and this would perform easily into the depths of winter with a good base and mid-layer underneath. The Beta stays dry for rides of around 75mins, even during inclement rides. The elastane offers good levels of freedom, so moving with you as you alternate between drops, hoods and tops, while three deep rear pockets, a rear zipped one and slick aesthetic complete an impressive package.
