OTE Super Protein Recovery drink has been designed purposely to be low in Carbohydrate. It contains 20g of Whey Protein, 5g of L-Glutamine, 2g of L-Leucine and 1.5g of HMB per serving, important ingredients in the repair and rebuilding of muscle after exercise.
Due to its strong-branched chain amino acid (BCAAs) profile and ease of absorption, Whey Protein is arguably one of the most popular sports nutrition supplements used for muscle recovery and adaptation. Whey protein has been shown to increase muscle protein synthesis, support fat burning, boost the immune system, improve insulin sensitivity, and decrease appetite. Additionally, whey concentrate is shown to boost production of glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant.
Leucine is a branched chain amino acid important for protein synthesis and muscle growth. When ingested in high amounts, such as with whey protein supplementation, there is a greater stimulation of protein synthesis to speed recovery and adaptation to exercise (stress).
HMB is seen as an anti-catabolic agent (reduces muscle breakdown) rather than an anabolic agent (increases muscle mass) and a useful supplement for the purpose of reducing muscle wastage during intense or long periods of exercise. HMB supplementation is especially useful to athletes who are on a calorie restricted diet or endurance athletes where being lighter will have a significant role to play in performance.

Note OTE Super Protein Recovery has purposely been developed to be low in carbohydrate. If additional carbohydrate is required after your workout we recommend you add 20g of OTE Carbo Booster to your drink. This may be necessary if you have undertaken a fasted or low carbohydrate workout, or your workout has been intense and carbohydrate depleting.
